Echo Mountain Kicks Off Season with New Upgrades and Leadership


Idaho Springs, CO, December 19, 2024 – Echo Mountain, Denver’s closest and most affordable ski area, has officially opened for the 2024-2025 winter season, unveiling numerous exciting winter and summer season upgrades, as well as the appointment of a new General Manager.

Over the past seven months, amidst a busy schedule of weddings and events, the Echo team has worked diligently to complete several significant improvements aimed at enhancing the guest experience and expanding the area’s offerings year-round. These improvements include:

  • Repainted the Hot Laps Special Chairlift
  • Relocated the Yard Sale conveyor
  • Upgraded the Point-of-Sale, eCommerce, Rentals, and Access Control technology
  • Enhanced public Wi-Fi access with a new Starlink satellite system
  • New event supplies including a 4,000 sq. ft. tent, tables, chairs, patio heaters and more
  • Paved around the base area buildings and both the upper and lower parking lots
  • Installed approximately 90,000 square feet of artificial turf in the base area
  • Upgraded to a fully automated snowmaking system, including six new fan guns and enhanced controls
  • Secured funding for three new snowmaking supply water wells, scheduled for completion in early summer 2025

Additionally, opening day marks the promotion of Danny Moss from AGM to General Manager. In his new role, Moss will oversee all day-to-day operations and staff at Echo Mountain.

“Danny has been an integral part of the Echo team for nearly a decade, in roles under three different ownership groups,” said Dan Dietrich, owner and CEO of Echo Mountain. “He has a deep understanding of the operation and, most importantly, knows both our team and our guests. We’re excited to have him lead us through an invigorating period of growth and continued improvement.”

Moss brings to the role 25 years of experience in the ski industry. Prior to becoming GM, he held roles in Patrol, Risk Management and Operations. Before that, Moss led Patrol and Snow Sports Instructor training at dozens of ski areas across the U.S as a PSIA Level III Examiner, Instructor, and as an NSP Certified Patroller.

“I’m both honored and excited to continue working alongside this hard-working team to help Echo Mountain grow and thrive,” said Moss. “We’ve already made tremendous progress, but we believe there’s much more to come, and I look forward to leading the charge.”
